Associate Reliability Engineer

JOB SCOPE

Ensure day-to-day work of Turn around and projects are performed effectively, efficiently in alignment with set procedure. Provide Engineering & technical support to the Refinery’s Maintenance and Operational teams for specialized and highly complex rotating machinery (large reciprocating compressors and pumps) problems.
Provide guidance and solutions to rotor dynamics problems. Review routine/preventive/predictive maintenance activities and ensure compliance with operational priorities. Ensure operational standards are followed in compliance with operational priorities.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure day-to-day work are performed effectively, efficiently, and safely in order to increase refinery profit, enhance plant reliability/integrity, and promote safety & compliance to environmental standards.

2. Assist and support to enhance the effectiveness of operations and maintenance in Utilities and Upgrading. Develop reliability strategies and programs for operating systems and equipment.

3. Provide information, data and recommendations concerning operations and maintenance issues and activities to optimize production and equipment.
4. Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, maintenance, operation and process to resolve reliability problems. Lead root cause failures analysis to avoid future failures. Develop and maintain reliability programs in the assigned areas.
5. Support Reliability Central Maintenance (RCM) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies, performance review and auditing. Conduct regular reviews to asset performance improvement programs to identify problems and opportunities to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

6. Learn to review and identify the reliability bad actors and recommend the action plan to tackle them. Support maintenance and revalidate the spares & PM requirements to ensure reliable operation of the plant.

7. Assemble and analyze reliability data from field studies or data base, and correlates the data of analysis using well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures.

8. Assist in planning and procedures for preventive/predictive maintenance on operating equipment, including Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of vessels, piping, PSV’s and equipment to improve reliability and reduce costs. Installs or assists in the application of these procedures and interpretation of results. Monitors equipment performance and condition, and makes necessary changes to plans/procedures to improve reliability of equipment.

9. Learn to conduct independent evaluation, selection, adoption and modification via Codes, maintenance techniques, procedures and criteria in devising new approaches to problems encountered.

10. Assist in records management requirements for Fixed Equipment, including paper files, SAP and miscellaneous computer programs.

11. Assist in the area of equipment upgrading and maintenance emphasizing the cost-effective selection, application and installation. Coordinates and schedules maintenance shutdown activities, utilizing maintenance supervisors and planners as resources. Assures that quality standards are met and Standards, Guidelines and Protocols are adhered to.

12. Make frequent plant visits and discuss operational issues with respective OME teams with purpose of resolving, upgrading, maintaining, and improving the equipment performance as required.

13. Participate and contribute in troubleshooting meetings to attend the equipment failures, system failures and other process abnormalities. Discuss abnormalities with technicians, engineers and Technical support engineers and operations shift.

14. . Learn to conduct research on equipment’s, processes and systems to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and abnormalities. Regularly evaluate work, processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

15. . Conduct investigation on equipment failures, system failures and identify the root causes and provide sound recommendations to prevent future failure or incidents. Participate in Root Cause Analysis on plant assets malfunction and provide feedback to prepare reports.

16. . Fully comprehend and adhere to relevant safety and environmental policies as per YASREF Standards. Participate in HSE activities (such as reporting near miss cases, proposing safety suggestions and safety quizzes) as required

17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.

Years of work experience: Three (03) years of relevant experience is required for Expatriates. No previous work experience is required for Saudi Nationals.
