Job Scope
To ensure that the refinery instrumentation provides the accurate and quick real-time measurement data to the control systems to effectively respond to abnormalities and control operating parameters of the plant in order to comply with YASREF strategies and operational priorities (profit, safety, reliability, and environmental requirements).
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for preparation of piping layouts, isometrics as per P&IDs to meet MOC requirements in refinery units.
2. Performing and review of various calculations like pipe wall thickness, Hot taping calculations etc.
3. Review of Material requisition (MR), Technical bid evaluation (TBE) & NMRS etc.
4. Preparation of manual MTO as per site pipe routings and preparation piping scope of work related to MOCs.
5. Review and approval of projects/MOCs from Project department.
6. Coordinating with other engineering departments on piping projects.
7. Conducting technical investigations and studies related to piping systems and components leaks in refinery units.
8. Conduct site visits and giving resolutions for site queries related to MOCs/Projects and piping technical issues.
9. Reviewing, commenting, approval of Piping materials, Vendor drawings and documents. Incorporation of Vendor data/inputs in Engineering.
10. Good exposure on AutoCAD, Navis, SPR.
11.Having knowledge in various design codes and standards such as ASME B31.1 & B31.3, API 610, API 617, API 618, API 650, and API 661 & WRC 107/297.
12. Review of vendor drawings and co-ordination with other departments such as Process, static Equipment, and Civil.
13. Design and develop engineering solutions to optimize plant assets and to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Provide timely contribution for engineering projects, including new installations, upgrades and expansions. Coordinate with various stake holders and ensure engineering solutions are provided for successful project completion.
14. Provide engineering solutions to maintain the plant assets throughout their life cycle. Provide technical support to OME teams during plant maintenance/shutdown or in order to resolve any technical issue related to engineering.
15. Conduct evaluation and prepare the design modifications as approved by the change of management system or project management team. Prepare Design Packages for In-house modifications and MOCs and carry out all the supporting design calculations.
16. Make frequent plant visits and discuss operational issues with respective OME teams with purpose of resolving, upgrading, maintaining, and improving the equipment performance as required.
17. Participate and contribute to troubleshooting meetings to attend the equipment failures, system failures and other process abnormalities. Discuss abnormalities with technicians, engineers and reliability engineers and operations shift.
18. Conduct research on equipment’s, processes and systems to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and abnormalities. Regularly evaluate work, processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
19. Conduct investigation on equipment failures, system failures and identify the root causes and provide sound recommendations to prevent future failure or incidents. Participate in Root Cause Analysis on plant assets malfunction and provide feedback to prepare reports.
20. Regularly update the knowledge of industry best practices, document lessons learned. identify emerging technologies, regularly read industry publications and participate in professional development activities.
21. Participate in various Plant Acceptance Tests and validate modifications or addition of equipment’s and systems. Assess and manage risks associated with plant assets and evaluate potential system failures. Implement protocols, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
22. Guide the development & update of the Standards. Contribute to the procedures and objectives improvement. Carry out solutions as per defined standards or manuals.
23. Support Operation and Maintenance during planned, emergency shutdown or disasters, provide technical assistance and assist in resolving emergency situations arising in operation related to equipment’s. Evaluate and review failure report and shutdown incident report and provide engineering recommendations.
24. Guide the preparation of Development/ Enhancement of engineering designs, studies, documents, calculations, technical bulletins, Work instructions, guidelines, procedures etc.
25. Conduct engineering studies; including engineering standards review; to improve plant integrity and reduce costs.
26. Provide technical support to improve asset maintenance strategies such as Maintenance strategy planning and Capital spare strategy. Contribute to update of preventive /predictive maintenance task lists, work instructions etc.
27. Evaluate the engineering proposals to ensure that the Equipment or System meets YAREF standard requirements and enables the achievement of business priorities (HSE, reliability, profitability and continuous improvement).
28. Fully comprehend and adhere to relevant safety and environmental policies as per YASREF Standards. Participate in HSE activities (such as reporting near miss cases, proposing safety suggestions and safety quizzes) as required.
29. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor.
30. Experience on Conceptual, FEED, MOCs and Detailed Engineering of Piping for Oil & Gas projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering or Equivalent.
Years of work experience: Five (05) years of relevant experience.
Certification/License (Optional): Certified as a Professional Engineer from a recognized Engineering Institute.
